SOS Saving Our Sanity
In this summer series, SOS will take all that we learned about personality traits and apply it to helping our kids of all ages to self-advocate through expected behaviors. In this series, we will use look at challenging behaviors alongside the ways that our traits and the traits of our kids factor into situations. By using what we know about ourselves and underlying truths about challenging behaviors, we will add investigation and curiosity to see if we can improve those hard circumstances.

Topics:
May 4th -Session One: We are going to look at ways to encourage desired behaviors and discourage unexpected behaviors through setting reasonable and precise expectations.
May 11th- Session Two: We are going to look at ways to encourage desired behaviors and discourage unexpected behaviors through establishing an expectation of self-control.
May 18th -Session Three: We are going to look at ways to encourage desired behaviors and discourage unexpected behaviors through encouraged cooperation.
May 25th-Session Four: We are going to look at ways to encourage desired behaviors and discourage unexpected behaviors through established compliance
June 1 -Session Five: We are going to go under the hood to look at the organic roots of disruptive and challenging behaviors to gain increased compassion
June 8th Session Six: We are going to look at approaches to prevent behavior though acknowledging, anticipating, accepting, avoiding, adjusting our attitude, and accommodating.
June 15th Session Seven: We are going to look at approaches to guide behavior through suggestion, and motivation
June 22nd Session Eight: We are going to look at approaches to train positive behavior through self-control and coping techniques taught over time.

The group is facilitated by Laura Beth DeHority, LMFT, parent to special needs young adults, and former corporate communicator.
