Nonprofit leaders across our community and the country are asking what more they can do to meet the moral imperative of cultivating a workforce that’s diverse—and not just across racial lines, but across all marginalized, underrepresented, and underserved communities—and fully support that workforce. It’s not surprising, then, that some are questioning whether their hiring and promotion practices are truly inclusive, and what practical steps they can take to help their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
At September’s Nonprofit Network Meeting, we’ll hear from two professionals implementing this work in their organizations. Fernando Arroyo, Chief of Staff at Waco Family Medicine, and Levell Spencer, HR Manager at Caterpillar and board member of the Heart of Texas SHRM chapter, will join us to discuss their experiences implementing DEI practices and practical tips you can use at your nonprofit. The conversation will be moderated by Kayla Mize, the Waco Regional Director for the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty.
