Leaders of the YOU Matter peer support program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital talk about starting a new program and connecting it with other initiatives in their organization. Now, the YOU Matter program is anchored in Human Resources, working alongside programs like clinician and staff burnout, chaplain services, and other wellness resources.
Jenna M. Merandi, Pharm.D., M.S., CPPS
Jenna Merandi is a Medication Safety Officer and Director of the YOU Matter Second Victim Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice at the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. She has helped train more than 700 employees to become peer supporters, who have then provided support to more than 500 employees since initiation of program. Jenna has given many national presentations and has provided guidance to more than 70 hospitals starting peer support programs. She also founded the Children’s Hospital Association Medication Safety Leaders Collaborative, now consisting of more than 30 hospitals with the goal of sharing best practices for improving pediatric medication use outcomes nationally.
Brandon Kozar, Psy.D., MBA
Brandon Kozar is a licensed clinical psychologist, Director of Leadership Coaching and Development, and Director of the YOU Matter staff support program for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. His primary work focuses on developing services to support the emotional wellness of hospital staff, developing hospital leaders, and supporting Chiefs of Medicine in growing and managing their divisions. Brandon specializes in leadership coaching, interpersonal and team dynamics, personality assessment, and employee emotional wellness.
