Nkumba University, in conjunction with SESAC is organizing a national security studies conference to take place from 19th August 2021 on the theme: “SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT IN UGANDA: SEARCHING FOR A COMMON UNDERSTANDING AMONG THE CIVIL SOCIETY, ACADEMIA AND PRACTITIONERS”
The main objective of the conference is to share ideas on how to develop a common approach to security sector management in Uganda. This is based on the view that no nation can attain development without security. To achieve this, the conference seeks to develop a dialogue between state and non-state actors in national security provision and governance. It is important to bring these two sectors to dialogue because security and development require all stakeholders’ input.
The conference will also build up the University’s interaction with the policy making and practitioners community. Presenters will be from different State and non-State organizations. Your department is requested to give a presentation on: “The changing role of the military in Uganda’s socioeconomic development.”
