Fort Chambers: A Call for Boulder to Reckon with our History and Build Right Relationships with Indigenous Peoples Today
Right Relationship Boulder's Land Working Group will present a 20-minute slide presentation (followed by discussion) about the history of Boulder's Fort Chambers and its ties to the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre. In 2018, the City purchased a 110-acre property on 63rd Street, which includes the site of the sod fort. The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, whose ancestors were murdered at Sand Creek, will participate in planning how the site will be protected and/or developed for its unique historical, cultural and spiritual meanings.
