On August 8th, 2018, Saudi Arabia used US military technology to target a school bus, killing 40 Yemeni children. This September, a vote is expected to happen on a bill (SJRes56) to end US involvement in the war. More horrific tragedies like this can continue to happen with U.S. complicity if we do not pass the vote in Congress meaning the possibility of more bombs targeting and murdering innocent children.
We are memorializing these 40 schoolchildren in a virtual vigil on the anniversary of the bombing and demanding no more Congressional authorization for school bombings. We will be hearing from a panel of Yemeni speakers and educators and then we will take action together to end US complicity in the horrific war in Yemen.
This event is part of a month-long effort to commemorate the innocent lives lost in the Yemen war. Join us virtually every Monday at 8pm EST throughout August. See the full event list here: bit.ly/mondaysforyemen.
