Welcome to our Virtual Volunteer Orientation, an educational program that explores marine animal rehabilitation and why it exists, the work of National Marine Life Center, and how YOU can be a part of it. Education & Volunteer Coordinator Geneva Mommsen will be presenting our Volunteer Orientation program online to explore what a typical volunteer shift might include in each of the departments and what our expectations and requirements are for potential volunteers. After completing the Virtual Volunteer Orientation program, you will be asked to send a follow up email to express your continued interest. Then you will be given access to the necessary training documents to complete, along with quizzes, the following week. Then, volunteers who have completed all previous steps, will be invited to attend shadow shifts and begin volunteering. There will be a $35 training and T-shirt fee. You will receive your NMLC Logo Gear T-shirt after you've been an active volunteer at the National Marine Life Center for 3 months. This wait period ensures that all of our potential volunteers understand the importance of reliability and the minimum 6 month time commitment.
You can find more information about volunteering with us at https://nmlc.org/ways-to-help/volunteer/ either before or after the Volunteer Orientation. You can also complete a volunteer application here if you haven't done so already.
