Dr. Cherry-Paul is the co-founder of the Institute for Racial Equity in Literacy, the Director of Diversity and Equity at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and the Senior Advisor of the Heinemann Fellows. She is the creator of the forthcoming book, Stamped (for Kids), an adaptation of the groundbreaking book by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. She is also a co-author of four other books published by Heinemann.
Informed by her over 20 years of experience as a Middle School English teacher, Dr. Cherry-Paul was instrumental in curriculum development that centered the work of racial literacy in K-12 schools. She currently leads presentations about literacy at national conferences, and on a global scale, provides professional development on reading and writing instruction and antiracist teaching practices.
