When you’ve hired someone new, how do you introduce them to the team and integrate them into your culture – without an office space in which to do it?
Daniel de la Cruz, founder of Polymensa, has been conducting extensive research into virtual onboarding, and how agencies can make this process as smooth as possible for new hires. He says it starts well before their first day.
“Every single agency I’ve spoken to in the last six months that’s hired someone has had so many challenges, because they’ve never had to do this before. It’s a major challenge for everybody,” he explains.
Whether you’re setting out a personalised learning and development plan before they start their new role or inviting them to 1-1 coffee meetings and virtual lunches to meet the team, these are just two examples of several things you can implement to make the onboarding process that bit easier.
We’ll be chatting to Daniel about the three main takeaways of his report:
• Practical tips to create a ‘best in class’ virtual onboarding process
• Insights into the ‘pre-boarding’ stage, and how elaborate this can be
• What agencies can do to help new employees integrate remotely
The pandemic hasn’t put a halt to hiring new people, and this session will be a useful tool in working out the best way to welcome someone new into the fold.
