Dr. Boncristiani is the applied researcher in honey bee husbandry at the University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Lab (HBREL). He has a diverse background in honey bee research. He has worked at the Beltsville Bee Lab, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of Maryland and at the National Research Council. He also comes from a beekeeping family, in Brazil. At the HBREL, Dr. Boncristiani conducts research that is directly applicable to commercial beekeeper operations. He is also one of the leading experts in the United States in the biology and management of the Small Hive Beetle (SHB).
SHB season is getting started here in the DC area ... now is the time to be thinking about how to manage this pest and Dr. Boncristiani is the perfect researcher to discuss it with. We are very fortunate to have him join us ... please make time to tune in to our meeting on June 17.
