Texas 87th Legislative Session Lessons, Opportunities + Connections
The Texas 87th Legislative Session has wrapped up and there’s a lot for us to reflect on together! Whether you have experience in disability advocacy or it’s new to you, we hope you’ll join us to learn more about advocacy by looking at some legislative activities from this past legislative session. The training series will include reflections and next steps on bills that passed and bills that didn’t pass, best practices for identifying and communicating about your priority issues.

Lessons: in this four-part training series, we will review the basics of advocacy and look closely at a couple of bills impacting people with disabilities that passed and didn’t pass, and look forward to next steps
Opportunities: we will offer tangible ways to advocate and discuss what advocacy and efforts can result in.
Connections: we will create time for participants to get together to connect over shared interests and concerns, resource share, and build stronger coalitions.

The training series will include reflections and next steps on bills that passed and bills that didn’t pass, best practices for identifying and communicating about your priority issues. The training will culminate in a Panel Discussion with Texas state legislators.
