“The Criminalization of Black and Brown Girls:
Adversity, Abuse and the School-to-Prison Pipeline”
Zoom Meeting: Wednesday, May 19, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Due to a production problem on our end, several of the registered participants got the erroneous message that capacity had been reached and they could not join this joint project of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women- Northern VA and the Virginia Chapter of the National Organization for Women. It was solved but many had already given up. We deeply regret the confusion and would like you to have the link to the event to watch when it’s convenient for you.
Our speakers, Cherice Hopkins, Senior Counsel of Rights4Girls; Valerie Slater, Executive Director of Rise for Youth; Ta’ Dreama McBride, youth leader, and Juandiego Wade, member of the Charlottesville City School Board, presented a factual, hard-hitting and, at times, emotional program well worth watching.
We have compiled some resources to augment the rich discussion by the speakers and Q&A between participants and speakers. This as well as the link to the recording of the session can be found at:
