Chinese Brush Painting with Maxine Leu
Wednesdays, Sept. 7, 14, 28 & Oct. 5

In this four-section class, students will be introduced to the Spontaneous styles of Chinese brush painting, the Four Treasures of Study and the meaning of four-gentleman plants. The classes will cover basic techniques like brush holding, strokes, water control, composition in Eastern painting, and signature. Students will learn how to draw bamboo, pine, plum, and orchid with Chinese ink and brush. This class is open to beginners.

Class 4: Chrysanthemum with bird

Maxine Leu is an interdisciplinary artist, art educator, and environmentalist from Taiwan. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture at the State University of New York at New Paltz and her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Tainan University of Technology (TUT), Tainan, Taiwan. Her work focuses on the environment, communication, and identity. Leu has been promoting several workshops about painting, printmaking, recycling art, and traditional Chinese brush painting in a number of places since 2015.
