Pride Caucus - Meet and Greet

Party members who are part of the LGBTQ+ community are currently laying the groundwork to launch the Ohio Democratic Party’s newest constituency group, the Pride Caucus. Their goal is to create a network of volunteers, advocates, organizers, candidates, donors and voters across Ohio to advance issues important to all of us.

In the coming weeks, Pride Caucus organizers will be hosting opportunities via Zoom of LGBTQ+ Ohioans who are interested in this new endeavor. While they already have amassed a long list of community and party activists, they are committed to making sure that the new Pride Caucus includes Democrats from every part of our state.

LGBTQ+ Americans are among the most committed voters and the most committed supporters of Democratic candidates. Nationwide, 93% of voting-age Americans who identify as LGBTQ+ cast a ballot for president in 2020, and 81% of them voted for President Biden.

An October 2022 study by the Human Rights Campaign and Bowling Green State University projected that by 2040, LGBTQ+ voters will make up 17.7% of Ohio’s electorate.

Our new ODP Pride Caucus will help amplify the voice of LGBTQ+ Ohioans and offer them a community-centered vehicle to become more active in campaigns and elections. It has great potential to help Democrats up and down the ballot in every part of our state.
