Founded in 1961, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, is a pioneering Off-Off-Broadway theater venue located in the East Village dedicated to the artist and all aspects of the theatre. The La MaMa Archives, opened to the public in 1987, collects, preserves, and exhibits records of permanent historical value relating to La MaMa and the Off-Off Broadway movement, including photographs, programs, posters, costumes, scripts, film, props, set pieces, puppets, and musical instruments. Join us as archivist Sophie Glidden-Lyon takes us through a virtual tour of the Archives space and the treasures it holds.
Sophie Glidden-Lyon is the Manager of Digital and Special Projects at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club Archives. She holds a Masters in Archives and Public History from NYU, and has a background in artists’ papers.
