Calum Craik: Artist's Talk
Join us to hear artist and curator Calum Craik discuss his current exhibition Psycho Capital.

Calum Craik’s new installation for Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s street front gallery, examines the current neoliberal capitalist landscape through the lens of the objects and imagery it produces. The viewer is invited to navigate through a stage set of construction debris, precarious worker uniforms, defensive architecture and AirBnB rentals to arrive at a psychological space as much as a physical one. His sculptural vocabulary uses discarded materials and everyday items to examine labour, class, changing economies and complicity.

Calum Craik is an interdisciplinary artist and curator who lives and works in Scotland and the United States. Craik’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at The Royal Standard in Liverpool, Nurture Art in Brooklyn, New York, and the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries. He has given talks at Real Time and Space in Oakland, CA, and has been interviewed by the Berkeley Art Center. Craik has recently completed residencies at the Headlands Center for the Arts, California, and Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. His recent work has been written about by critic and historian Tausif Noor for Foundwork.art. Craik also has taught Sculpture at San Francisco State University and recently conducted workshops with Edinburgh College’s Contemporary Art Practice classes. Craik’s current practice is centred on the effects of neoliberal capitalism on labour and the environment.
