"Fireweed" is Jennifer Mae's published memoir of choosing adoption for her infant daughter. Reading of the book is not required to receive foster parent training credit.
This training will equip family foster caregivers, treatment or medically fragile foster caregivers, pre-adoptive infant foster caregivers, adoptive parents, hospital staff, pregnancy care center staff and volunteers, pastors, and/or anyone else who provides support for women experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Jennifer Mae will share her insights into building empathy for biological parents' circumstances surrounding unplanned pregnancy, trauma, and the choice for adoption. Learning activities include: a. men and women choosing adoption are so much more than their circumstances, b. understanding how past trauma impacts decision-making for the biological parents, and c. encourage caregivers to view the biological family through an empathetic lens.
Foster (cradle care) parents who are currently licensed with an agency in Ohio will complete a written evaluation and receive 1 live credit hour.
