Build a Snake Game with Java Graphics
In this engaging workshop series, you’ll discover ways to use the CodeHS online IDE to have your students create a Java Graphics Snake game. You’ll learn about how game design and project-based learning can teach students about the fundamentals of object-oriented programming in Java! Session 1 (Monday, July 26): Getting Started with Snake!
Learn how to get started setting up your Snake Game
Access the starter code
Build the Snake’s head

Session 2 (Tuesday, July 27): Build the Snake Body
Receive the finished code from Monday!
Continue working on building your snake!

Session 3 (Wednesday, July 28): Finish the Game!
Receive the finished code from Tuesday!
Learn how to complete your Snake game!

Teachers will come away from this workshop series with the finished code to run your own Snake game and be ready to introduce the Snake game to your own students.

Gary spent 40 years in IT development and started teaching 9 years ago. He started using CodeHS 5 years ago for Intro to Programming and AP Computer Science. In the last two years, Gary also started using CodeHS for Intro to Cybersecurity!
