Recent elections have demonstrated the power of manipulated images and videos to disinform the public on social media platforms. Social media researchers from civil society and media must be prepared to analyze and expose such emerging online threats.
Through an interactive online workshop (15 and 16 July), DRI aims to provide participants with the knowledge and tools to analyze image and video-based social media content. The first day will dive into recent cases along with a tutorial on verifying visual content. The second day will cover the technical steps of gathering data from popular image and video-based platforms (YouTube, Instagram and TikTok) and how to organize and store that data.
DRI will also introduce its new “Guide to Monitoring Image and Video Based Social Media”.
This project is funded by Network of European Foundations – Civitates.
