Our Wisdom for Wednesday series continues and will introduce and explore the foundations of Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR), an youth development model that engages youth as researchers and experts on their own experiences that can, in turn, harness those youth voices to speak on issues that are impacting their lives with decision makers and community leaders.
By joining this session, participants will be better able to:
1. Describe key aspects of the YPAR model of youth development;
2. Highlight lessons learned from YPAR projects that have happened in the Cleveland area over the previous two years; and,
3. Plan and strategize how they could apply the principles of YPAR to their own organization, youth council, or region.
Our presenter will be Elizabeth Benninger, PhD, a Post-doctoral Fellow at Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine and a Psychology Instructor at Cleveland State University. She is also the CEO of Healthy Minds Healthy Communities Consulting.
