As part of a new project from FOLIO Sutton Coldfield, building towards the 500th anniversary of the town receiving its Royal Charter in 2028, join us to enjoy old photos and maps of the Parade and to share your memories and stories about this part of Sutton.
Sutton Coldfield means different things to different people – even different things at different times – and all sort of associations, memories and experiences affect how we identify with our town.
Telling Sutton’s Stories (http://foliosuttoncoldfield.org.uk/map/) is a community project, co-ordinated by FOLIO Sutton Coldfield and funded by the Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme, exploring different ways we identify with where we live by inviting you to explore and - if you wish to - contribute to a map of what matters to you, whether that is the town’s history, the town’s natural environment, artistic responses to the town or more, thereby documenting your memories and stories about the town.
This session will focus on showing photos and other material linked to the Parade. We will also briefly introduce the interactive map that forms the heart of Telling Sutton’s Stories and explain how you can easily contribute to it. We do hope you'll want to share your own stories and memories about the Parade too as part of this session.
Because we'll be showing lots of photos and maps we recommend joining the workshop on a device with as large a screen as possible; whilst it isn't essential, it will be more enjoyable if you can see all the photos, and maps on a good sized screen.
Details of all the online sessions, including those looking at other areas of Sutton Coldfield can be found here: http://foliosuttoncoldfield.org.uk/tss-events/
