Swimming South Africa is currently working with SASCOC and Sports and Recreation South Africa to prepare protocols and guidelines for returning to swimming. KZNA is also working with the provincial government to ensure that we have monitoring tools in place to ensure compliance with regulations if and when we return to swimming (RTS). Having followed government’s approach that they applied to the other sectors, it is critical that we understand some of the principles of Governments Risk Adjusted Strategy. The strategy involves risk assessments and ensuring that there are risk mitigation procedures in place.
We will thus be hosting a workshop to address the principles of governments Risk Adjustment Strategy. The workshop will include the following
1. Principles to consider when “returning-to-swim” (RTS) [High level, linking to government Risk Adjustment Strat – [Professor Rajen Naidoo & Peter Thompson]
2. Facilities preparation in RTS [Wayne Riddin will share what he is doing at the Seals Pool in Pmb]
3. Management and screening of athletes and other personnel on the pooldeck [Professor Rajen Naidoo]
4. Appropriate training programmes under the constraints of specific levels [Graham Hill]
