December Ecology Club: Riverside Fire in Review

Join Bark's Forest Watch Coordinator, Michael Krochta and Staff Attorney, Brenna Bell for an overview of the Riverside Fire in the Clackamas River watersheds of Mt. Hood National Forest.

Bark has been working on the ground in the Clackamas drainage for over 20 years. Staff and volunteers have seen many natural disturbances across the landscape, but this is the first fire of this magnitude. This talk will dive into fire ecology, the relationship of fire and climate change, the specific impacts of the Riverside Fire and some of Bark's projections about our work in the area in the future.

Join us online each month for Ecology Club! We discuss an ecological themes related to Bark’s work on Mt Hood or seasonal skills to give the community a deeper appreciation and understanding of NW ecology. Some months feature presenters, who bring their unique skills to the community. Other times, we will work as a group on such topics as thinning, fire ecology, wildflowers, birds, road ecology, or other ecological knowledge.

At the meeting's close, we leave time open to further explore the topics of the evening, delve deeper into Bark's work to protect Mt Hood, and learn about what you can do to protect Mt. Hood National Forest!
