Mental health recovery is an ongoing process, not a single outcome. Each person’s recovery experience is unique. By making a personalized, inclusive plan for managing a mental health condition, a person has the best chance of living a meaningful life. The partnership between peers and caregivers can be a rewarding experience. Join us as we present an educational workshop in collaboration with Janssen.
Angela Short is a Community Medical Liaison representing Janssen Scientific Affairs. As a Master Level Social Worker, she has more than 30 years of experience working with patients, families and community partners. Angela has worked as a school therapist, community outreach counselor, fetal alcohol syndrome specialist, substance abuse counselor, and worked inpatient and outpatient settings. She noticed a common goal throughout her career; people just want to be loved and accepted particularly by their family. This opportunity brings families together in a safe setting to do just that.
As a Community Medical Liaison, Angela provides mental health education and resources to adults living with severe mental Illness; along with engaging their families in partnership with NAMI. She facilitates mental health presentations to educate and empower consumers to actively participate in their recovery journey. The presentations provide a platform for peers to talk about their recovery journey, share experiences, struggles and success. We want peers to feel confident, motivated and empowered to tell their story and speak their truth. We do so by utilizing the Choices in Recovery curriculum. This presentation is paired with a workbook and other visual aids to write down and track progress.
Please be advised that a physical workbook will be sent to registrants providing a mailing address.
