Wow, things are moving fast in the EV space right now! EV market share tripled from 3.3% to 10.2% in Europe last year and GM’s latest announcement about their goal to end ICE sales in 2035 makes things more concrete here in the US, too.
We still have a lot of education to do, and one place where EVs are discussed more every year is at the Minnesota Capitol. There are already numerous EV related bills going through committees, so what are those and how can we be involved? I’m pleased to announce that at our meeting this month we will have an opportunity to hear: “What is happening with EVs at the State Capitol” from Representative Jamie Long and Representative Zack Stephenson. In addition to being awesome legislators, both are also fellow EV drivers. They will tell us more about their work, what EV-related bills are making progress at the Capitol, and how we can help.
After our legislative discussions, Anjali Bains from Fresh Energy will provide an update on the Clean Cars MN rulemaking. This rule is right now in front of an Administrative Law Judge who decides if it will be adopted. In addition to sending in written comments, we have an opportunity to testify in front of the judge (virtually) on February 22 and 23. So mark those dates on your calendar and join our meeting to hear how to prepare.
