For Camp Lay Leaders: Cultivating a Culture of Safety and Respect at Jewish Camps
Please note the new dates/times.

As a camp board or committee member, do you understand your role in fostering a safe, respectful, and equitable environment at camp?

This 2-part series - led by Sacred Spaces - is designed for Jewish camp lay leaders to explore their roles and responsibilities in fostering a safe and respectful environment both for those who attend camp and those who work there. The sessions will be held on Wednesday, March 15 and March 29 from 7-8:30 PM Eastern.

Participation in this 2-part series is limited to 40 people. By registering, you are agreeing to participate in both sessions. To promote a learning community, this will be a highly interactive workshop and it will not be recorded.

By participating in this workshop, you will:

• Learn about value-driven leadership and how it is reflected through camp communication, policies, and practices.
• Understand forms of abuses of power and build a shared language and understanding about types of abuse.
• Learn components of comprehensive prevention and response policies and protocols and identify areas for strengthening your own camp policies.
• Learn the basics of creating a reporting structure for abuses of power and how to respond to a disclosure of abuse.

About the facilitators:

Sacred Spaces partners with Jewish institutions to prevent and respond to sexual abuse and other abuses of power. Bringing a uniquely Jewish lens, Sacred Spaces is dedicated to ending institutional abuse through a systemic approach across the lifespan and denominations. It is driven by the belief that healthy and accountable institutions - whose culture and daily operations foster sacredness and reduce the risk of harassment, abuse, and other forms of interpersonal harm - contribute to the overall health and well-being of the community.
