Moving from Conflict to Cooperation: Strengthening Farmer-Herder Relationships through Community Peacebuilding in Nigeria
How can community-based peacebuilding transform conflict — even at the frontlines of climate change and insecurity? Join us to kick off this year’s International Day of Peace with an international Zoom call with lead facilitators of the Protecting Our Communities Initiative (POCI) in Nigeria! (Peace Day begins the next day)

The Protecting Our Communities Initiative, led jointly by Karuna Center and Neem Foundation, supports rural Nigerian communities impacted by farmer-herder conflict and insecurity—as climate change puts increasing pressure on existing conflict dynamics. Through POCI’s locally-rooted early warning/early response, outreach, and dialogue systems, community members have already resolved more than 350 incidents that could have led to broader problems.

We hope you can join us to hear firsthand from team members who are working in these communities! Seth Karamage, Karuna Center Board Member and Lead Consultant/Dialogue Coach in this project, will facilitate a discussion with Ahmad Jumare, Programme Manager at Neem Foundation, and Imam Muhammad Sani Isah, Intervention Director at Interfaith Mediation Centre and Religious Leader Liaison for Karuna Center.
