Sugar Creek Twp had a large German Protestant settlement stretching from Cumberland to New Palestine. One of its well-known early pioneers was Jacob Schramm, who wrote long descriptive letters to family in Germany. The letters were published in Germany and later translated into English by Schramm’s granddaughter Emma Schnull Vonnegut in 1935.

Presenter: Fran Reigle has been teaching German in Indianapolis area high schools for decades. She has always had a curiosity in the Indiana Germans.
