Course Objectives:
Part 1:
• To help the elder care professional understand how they can identify and assess cognitive impairment.
• To educate the elder care professional on how to identify normal aging vs. cognitive impairment.
• To educate the elder care professional on how to identify different types of dementia and how they differ.
• To help the elder care professional understand the different types of impairment.
Part 2:
• To educate the elder care professional on various assessment tools.
• To educate the elder care professional on the least restrictive advocacy/protective tools (medical and financial).
• To help the elder care professional understand the guardianship process for when less restrictive tools do not work.
