What's Next for NOW: New Initiatives Here In The Heartland

Please join our North & NW Suburban Chicago Chapter for our January meeting featuring Laura Welch, Illinois NOW president, and Kim Villanueva, Illinois NOW treasurer.  Laura and Kim have recently been elected as members of the National NOW Board of Directors from the Heartland District.  They will be speaking on new initiatives for NOW and what's happening here in the Heartland District.

2022 was a roller-coaster year, starting with the horrors of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the June Supreme Court "Dobbs" decision -- the catastrophe that eliminated the vestiges of Roe v Wade and paved the way for abortion being outlawed in many states.  But there was also our tremendous electoral victories in Illinois, where we extended support for women's rights in the Illinois state goverment and in our federal congressional delegation, the numerous anti-abortion ballot measures in other states that were defeated, and the stirring victory of pro-choice Senator Rafael Warnock in Georgia.

It was also a time of change for the National Organization for Women itself.  In this sure-to-be-informative event, Laura and Kim will update us on what's happening with NOW -- in the national office, in the state organizations around the country, and in particular right here in our midwest heartland.
