North Carolina workers will be joined by faith, community, and labor leaders online April 28th for a Workers' Memorial Day service honoring those who have died or suffered illnesses or injuries while on the job and to renew the promise of safe jobs for all.
During the event, which also will mark the 50th anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, speakers will connect the dots between worker empowerment and workplace safety and call for Congress to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act so the lives and livelihoods of fewer workers are left to the mercy of employers and regulators who don't care.
This event is part of a national week of action to pass the PRO Act, April 26-May 1, encompassing International Workers Memorial Day and May Day.
