Due to exceptional circumstances, we have decided to hold our annual Kallah online.
A Kallah is an opportunity to meet colleagues, to study and to catch up. This year, thanks to the online format, we will open our conference with a discussion involving the WUPJ President, Rabbi Sergio Bergman, the CCAR Chair, Rabbi Hara Person, Rabbi Nathan Alfred, who is in charge for community development for the WUPJ, in conversation with Rabbi René Pfertzel, Chair of ERA. This opening session will be followed by a workshop including the heads of the five Rabbinical schools operating in Europe – London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Moscow and Paris -. They will have a chance to present their institution, and this session will be open to all EUPJ members throughout Europe, to enable a conversation with our members and those in charge of training Rabbis. On Monday, we will discuss pressing issues for Rabbis: the rise of populism and anti-Semitism, Beit-Din matters, and the Aliyah to Israel. There will be opportunities to break out in rooms to catch up with colleagues we haven’t seen for a while. The day will conclude with the annual AGM. The programme is being finalized, and it will be sent out very shortly.
Our thanks go to the EUPJ Office in Brussels. They are offering pro bono their technical skills to make this happen. Our independence as a Rabbinic body is only possible with the financial support of our colleagues. Alongside your annual membership fees, we would like to ask you to consider a donation for ERA. Thank you.
