Developing the Capacity to Serve Others by Increasing Understanding of Cultural Competency
Cultural Competency is the ability to interact with people of various, diverse backgrounds in an effective/positive manner. It is, by definition, a skill, required for all persons that live in a society in which humans interact, such as schools, workplace, housing and communities, religious organizations, government, health care and social service. It is critically necessary for servicing both clients and fellow employees in the public and private sectors. It is also an essential citizenship skill to function effectively in our diverse nation.

Objectives:
--Participants will be able to understand the terms: cultural competency, diversity and inclusion.
--Participants will be able to define organizational culture and give specific examples.
--Participants will discuss how to create culturally responsive treatments environments.

This program is offered for (the previously entered) number of CE hours of social work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education accredited school and therefore a PA pre-approved provider of social work continuing education.
