Module 2 - Photobiomodulation Therapy for Clinical Management of Xerostomia
This series of presentations will give a brief overview of the history, basic scientific and clinical information on photobiomodulation (PBM). The audience will receive insight into PBM’s biostimulatory, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects through both scientific research and clinical case presentations.
The presenters will introduce clinical cases of patients exhibiting xerostomia, burning mouth syndrome, idiopathic facial pain, and other types of sensory alterations. A step-by-step clinical protocols including examination, subjective and objective measurements and diagnosis will be discussed. Additionally, the presenters will describe appropriate treatments based on clinical findings and report on outcomes including the patient's quality of life.
