Sustainable Beekeeping: The Importance of Becoming an Educated Beekeeper -by Dave Pearce. Dave will highlight the importance of a thorough and well-rounded beekeeping education in order to achieve a successful and sustainable apiary. Dave will discuss some specifics of the curriculum offered annually by the A2B2 Beekeeping School. He will highlight the knowledge and skills that make beekeeping an art, an enjoyable hobby and how one may generate an income through beekeeping as well. Dave began keeping bees in 2007. He often refers to himself as a cautionary tale from which other beekeepers should learn. In spite of his rocky start, Dave has become an experienced beekeeper with a successful beekeeping business. Dave is the primary instructor of the A2B2 Beekeeping School where he teaches Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Beekeeping. He also owns and operates his company, Local Buzz Bees and Honey. It is a company specializing in providing package bees, nucs, honey and education to those pursuing the art of beekeeping. This talk is sponsored by the Education Committee of Project Grow Community Gardens. It is free but participants must register to receive information to access Zoom.
