Plastics Treaty Call to Action Launch (JP)
More than 120 states have expressed support for a global treaty on the full lifecycle of plastics, and a number of business and industry voices have joined that chorus. This month, over 600 representative organizations and groups from civil society, Indigenous People, workers and trade unions, children and youth, and many others added their own clarion call: The time to act is now to address the plastics crisis.

We are calling for a legally binding global instrument on plastic pollution covering measures along the entire life cycle of plastics, including extraction of feedstocks, production, transport, use, disposal, and remediation.

This session will detail the asks of Member States governments for the upcoming UNEA5.2 session, and how the negotiation process for a treaty addressing the full life cycle of plastics can and should include participation from multiple stakeholders, including especially civil society, Indigenous Peoples, workers and trade unions, and children and youth.

A full line-up of speakers will follow.
