Every year Madison Area DSA has a chapter convention where all members in good standing are invited to attend in order to make decisions about important chapter business. Our convention is the highest legislative body in the chapter.
In past years, Convention has focused on electing a new Executive Committee, amending our bylaws, and approving a budget for the upcoming year. This year, Convention will include a discussion and vote on chapter priorities and working group charters. These additions are designed to help us cohere our work as the chapter grows: we gained more than 100 members in 2020, and we went from 4 working groups to 7.
Overall, the 2021 MADSA Convention will enable our chapter to focus our work in an impactful and politically relevant direction through democratic and member-driven debate and discussion. On March 6, we will discuss chapter priorities and bylaw amendments. On March 20, we will discuss Executive Committee and Harassment Grievance Officer elections, and working group charter renewals. Voting will take place online, via email, following each meeting.
