Addressing the Emotional Impact of Difficult Interpersonal Encounters with Patients and Others
Learn how to address emotional contagion, reinforce healthy boundaries, reduce stress & defuse tension

Do you ever feel yourself getting tense in the middle of a conversation and wonder why this is happening? More importantly, is there anything you can do about it?

In this live interactive session, Drs. Chase McMurren and Marcia Kostenuik will discuss what causes emotional activation during a tense patient encounter and how to care for your own emotions and suffering in order to remain compassionate with others. Chase will explain how we can make our work more therapeutic and navigate relational turbulence effectively. Marcia will guide a variety of experiential practices that calm the nervous system and remind you of your interpersonal boundaries.

This session is appropriate for non-physicians and physicians.
