Future of Good’s sector modernization check-in: In-depth conversation with Senator Ratna Omidvar

When the groundbreaking report ‘Catalyst for Change: A roadmap to a stronger charitable sector’ was released in June 2019 by the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector, it was the first of its kind in Canada.

The process was an extraordinary effort of consultations, surveys, discussions and deliberations that involved hundreds of changemakers. It listed recommendations on a range of issues, from disbursement quota to HR renewal— it was dubbed ‘the modernization guide for the non-profit world’ by some leaders in the sector. So, what difference has it led to in three years? Which areas have seen progress and which areas haven’t? What have been the setbacks? What actions should be prioritized in the next 12 months?
