Ireland North and South : misogyny and the state
Misogyny is part and parcel of the capitalist system, and the state plays a crucial role in upholding and perpetuating sexist tropes. From victim blaming in the Belfast rape trial, to the mother and baby homes, to the grim fact that the southern state invests more money into greyhound racing than it does to rape crisis centres; it's clear that the state does not sufficiently support survivors.
