“I wish they had this in Ikea” – Learning from Howbusyistoon.com on citizen-focused data sharing in Newcastle
Hosted by: Jenny Nelson, Digital Newcastle Programme Manager, Newcastle City Council,  Dr Luke Smith, Deputy Director, Urban Observatory, Newcastle University and David Scott, User Experience Researcher, Hedgehog Lab

Hear about Newcastle’s approach to sharing data with citizens.

Focused on our www.howbusyistoon.com project, we’ll give you a whistle-stop tour of the last 5months and our efforts to share data with citizens in a way which supports a safe return to the high street and support vital economic renewal in the city.

Starting with how we put the data foundations in place to take our initial idea to prototype/beta release in 3 weeks, through to our current MHCLG funded work with Hedgehog Lab to continue developing the concept, we’ll share advice and learning on how other towns and cities can maximise their data collection (including using existing infrastructure), the importance of user-centred design in shaping what data is shared and how, and how they can make the most of our open source product.
