Land Grab CT: A Dialogue on UConn’s Colonial History
The University of Connecticut was built not only on Indigenous land, but with Indigenous land. As a beneficiary of the 1862 Morrill Land Grant Act, UConn has received funds for over 100 years originally derived for Native lands seized and sold from across North America. Join us for Encounters: LandGrabCT, where we will consider this history and responsibility it creates for the University. Participants will engage in facilitated dialogue and have the opportunity to ask questions of specialists.

This event is one of two events sponsored by Greenhouse Studios in conjunction with the Native American Cultural Programs (NACP) and Native American and Indigenous Students Association (NAISA) to mark Indigenous Peoples Week, and we encourage all to also attend the keynote remarks by Tristan Ahtone and Bobby Lee, creators of the Land Grab U project Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 4pm.
