The Lenten Workshop Series offers an opportunity to enter Lent in a personal way. Participants can experience Lent as a time to picture themselves on a retreat with Jesus. It reminds them that Lent is a time to join Christ in the desert in preparation for the mystery of his death and resurrection at Easter. The goal of this workshop series is to help participants be formed as disciples in a similar way to Jesus forming the apostles in the time leading up to Holy Week. In this Lenten journey, we will align ourselves with the walk of Jesus. Over the course of this series we will “map out” a Lenten journey reflecting on these seven words as Seven Steps for a Lenten walk with Jesus: humble, deserted, connected, zealous, healing, dying, and victorious. Each step has a distinctive character, but they are all woven together by the thread of the Lenten theme of transformation. The walk with Jesus during Lent sets us up to celebrate our transformation as we sing glory to God for the paradigmatic transformation that happened to Jesus on the first Easter Sunday.
This workshop series is divided into six sessions beginning with the Virtual Workshop on the First Sunday of Lent (February 21), and continuing with the Five weekly Virtual Sessions through the Sundays of Lent to Palm Sunday (March 28). Registered participants will receive more details on how to join the succeeding weekly virtual sessions. Participants who are currently attending one of the SCC virtual small groups will continue the succeeding Five Lenten sessions at their regular weekly scheduled meetings.
