NDC Listening Session: Exploring Interpreter Shortages in Postsecondary Settings
Description
Colleges and universities across the country are facing increased difficulties in securing interpreting services. Disability Service Professionals report these challenges are a result of a lack of availability of qualified interpreters and a decreased willingness of available interpreters to work in postsecondary settings, particularly in person. This situation directly impacts the opportunities for deaf students' engagement and participation in postsecondary education and training. We at NDC want to know more.

NDC is hosting a listening session to learn directly from the people in the field. This session is an opportunity to share challenges, creative strategies, and successes in navigating interpreting services. NDC staff will facilitate the dialog and listen to what participants are ready to offer. This information will help NDC further explore how to support institutions' ability to include and service deaf students.

Sign Language Interpreters and CART captioning provided. Please email help@nationaldeafcenter.org to make additional accommodation requests.
