From Idea to Impact: Supporting Innovations in WASH

Today, an astounding 70% of urban India’s sewage is left untreated, 80% of generated municipal solid waste is dumped into landfills, and the financing gap to achieve the country’s WASH-centric Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 has widened to more than $123 billion If this grim picture is to turn around, India needs cost-effective and rapidly scalable innovations in WASH that can improve access to safe water, sanitation and solid waste management across the country While India has a booming entrepreneurial community brimming with innovative ideas, most fail to reach even the ‘proof of concept’ let alone ‘ stage, due to lack of a strong WASH ecosystem to support such innovations.

This Learning Lab session will bring together experts from the government, civil society, funding community and private sector to discuss the opportunity and urgent need for greater funding and collaboration towards supporting WASH-centric innovations, and highlight the call to action for key stakeholder groups.
