Europe Regional Futures Forum - C4UN & Partners - 13 March 2023, 11 am CET

The UN Summit of the Future (SOTF), scheduled for September 2024 in New York, is a critical milestone in the UN reform process initiated by Secretary-General António Guterres through his "Our Common Agenda" (OCA) report of September 2021. The Summit will take place a year after the (periodic) SDG Summit, a Climate Summit and a preparatory Ministerial Forum on the Summit of the Future, all of which are scheduled for September 2023.

The Coalition for the UN We Need (C4UN) partners and global civil society are organizing a series of Regional Futures Forums (RFFs) to bring critical and diverse intergenerational civil society perspectives into preparations for the first annual civil society-led Global Futures Forum (GFF) scheduled for 20-21 March 2023 in New York. Special effort is made to engage youth in these activities. A key outcome of the Global Futures Forum will be the development of a proposed “People’s Pact for the Future”, as a civil society declaration of both principles and advocacy designed to feed into the General Assembly’s preparatory negotiations on an intergovernmental UN Pact for the Future and related SOTF outcomes (e.g. the proposed Declaration on Future Generations, a Global Digital Compact, and a New Agenda for Peace).

The Europe Regional Futures Forum (Europe RFF), covering the entire European continent from West to East, will be held online on Monday, 13 March 2023, 11 am to 1 pm CET. It will be opened by Maria Fernanda Espinosa, UN General Assembly 73rd Session President and Co-Chair of the C4UN Steering Committee, with Manuela Tortora (Greycells) and Ivan Siluianov (Youth Fusion)
acting as Co-hosts. The main part of the RFF will consist in seven thematic discussions of 15 minutes each on the following topics:
o Global Economic & Financial Architecture
o Human Rights & Participation
o Development
o Global Digital Compact
o Environmental Governance
o Peace & Security
o UN & Global Governance Innovation
