A Conversation About Body Image with Occupational Therapist Anna Mackland from The Christie TYA unit in Manchester and Youth Support Coordinator Lorraine Wright & Young Person Sarah
We know that Cancer and its treatments can change your body and appearance. Some treatments may affect your skin, nails and hair. Other treatments may affect how a part of your body works.

Changes to your body may be temporary or permanent. They include changes that can be seen by others but they may also include changes that are not obviously visible to others. Changes to the way you look can have a big impact on how you feel about yourself.

Sarah has had an above knee amputation to her right leg due to having Osteosarcoma at aged 16. Sarah is now 25, has a dog called Paddy and splits her time between working her family’s American fried chicken shop, speaking in schools about her story for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and modelling. Sarah has sailed with The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust a number of times, firstly as a young person and has since gone on to be a Trust volunteer!
