Riana Yeates spent 14 years as a medical scientist working in diagnostic pathology before a mid-life career change, moving into the Australian Public Service. She is currently the Acting Manager of the Science Policy section at the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, with policy responsibility for a number of STEM grants.
Rebecca Colless has studied science, communication, writing and journalism. She’s produced education and marketing communications for science centres, a water supplier, CSIRO, UTS and her own successful businesses: a travelling science show and a sourdough bakery. Her experience as a communications consultant includes many fruitful grant applications for researchers and innovators.
Ben Newsome founded Fizzics Education to deliver science education across Australia, having now reached 2 million kids since 2004. He is a qualified science teacher, 2013 Churchill Fellow, 2015, 2016 & 2018 Australian Small Business Winner for Children’s Education Services & 2019 Blacktown Business Person of the Year. Ben is on the leadership team for the International Society for Technology in Education Interactive Video Conferencing group, an Ambassador for the Association of Science Education Technicians NSW and is an advisory board member of the Center for Interactive Learning & Collaboration.
