Australia’s Human Rights Report Card: A panel discussion with civil society organisations that contributed to the UPR NGO Coalition’s Report
The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a peer-review dialogue undertaken by the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council and all 192 Member States of the UN. Australia will present its third review on January 21, 2021 in Geneva.

This session is a great opportunity to come and listen to members of the UPR NGO Coalition as they discuss the key points made in the UPR NGO Coalition’s Report, endorsed by over 200 organisations in Australia. The Report was finalised through a collective effort at a time of unprecedented challenges for Australia: Australia had just emerged from the bushfire crisis in the summer of 2019/2020, bringing with it significant human rights implications; and now Australia and the world are facing the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

After our efforts to bring attention to major human rights violations happening in Australia through our Report, we will need to mobilise to ensure the recommendations made by the Human Rights Council are implemented. Please join our roundtable conversation!
