Career Launch Session 1: Destigmatizing Disability in Training and Educational Programs and the Workplace

In this session, you will learn about disability rights history and institutional ableism, and identify ways you can help to destigmatize disability in educational or training programs and the workplace. This workshop creates a foundation for the following sessions.

Career Launch Session 2: IDEA & Understanding Disabilities

In this session, you will learn about the educational laws in place to support students with disabilities (up to age 21). You will explore needs that can be presented by various disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities, and identify accommodations and other ways you can support young people’s success.

Career Launch Session 3: ADA, Disclosure, and Accommodations

In this session, you will learn about the civil rights laws in place to protect against discrimination in the workplace and higher education. You’ll also explore how to increase inclusion and implement supportive practices in your work with young people, and identify strategies to help youth with workplace entry, such as coaching young people on how to disclose their disability and request accommodations.
